In Mud City, every morning begins the same way: the commute, the office, the crowd, the journey home — surrounded by people, yet somehow still alone.
《籠裡 / Happy Life》 follows Eng Gang, an ordinary office worker caught in the repetitive rhythm of city life. Wrapped in bright indie-rock energy, the song looks at commuting, routine and the quiet isolation that grows inside a life built around simply getting through another day.
The cage is not something dramatic or visible. It is the familiar route, the repeated schedule, and the comfort of knowing exactly what tomorrow will look like.

FIRE RITUAL EP — 2025
Released on 25 January 2025, Fire Ritual is a five-track concept EP blending the traditional sound of the sape with ambient, rock and electronic textures. Exploring identity, ecological change and inner renewal, the project expands Evan Anak Borneo’s earlier loop-based performances into a more cinematic and ritualistic sound.

PULAU 島 — 2023
Released on 1 June 2023, Pulau 島 is an eight-track concept album inspired by the Iban idea of Pulau Galau — communal forest land traditionally preserved to protect natural resources and wildlife for future generations. The album follows an imagined journey from an ancient living rainforest into logging, industrialisation, flood and displacement, exploring what is lost when land becomes only a resource.

FIRE RITUAL ON PULAU
Pulau 島 and Fire Ritual eventually converged on stage as Fire Ritual on Pulau — a multidisciplinary live concept performance combining sape-driven music, visual art, contemporary batik, physical installation, movement and storytelling. The performance brought the ecological and spiritual themes of both projects into a shared live world.

Sea of Silence / 夢·川
A haunting sape-led song about displacement, drowned ancestral land and the human cost of large hydroelectric dams in Borneo. Inspired by stories of communities whose homes disappeared beneath reservoirs, Sea of Silence imagines the landscape from the perspective of a trapped forest spirit surrounded by rising water.
Eat Durian / 吃榴蓮
A joyful multilingual celebration of Sarawak, community and the strange equality created when everyone gathers around a durian. Moving through Mandarin, Iban, Hakka and Sarawak Malay, Eat Durian reveals the lighter, communal side of Evan Anak Borneo’s songwriting.

A live looping session exploring sape, guitar, ambience and repetition outside the structure of a conventional song.
NIAH FLOOD IMPROMPTU
Recorded during severe flooding in Sepupok, Niah, this dark chillout improvisation turns rain, isolation and uncertainty into a quiet musical diary.
CHIANG MAI STORY TELLING SESSION
Storytelling, improvisation and fragments of The Fallen Tapang weave together in an intimate live session about memory, forest and loss.
